Research Topics : Modified atmosphere packaging, factors affecting respiration and carbon flux during storage, biochemistry of ester biosynthesis, maturity analysis for ripening fruit crops, controlled atmosphere storage, physiology of superficial scald development in apple, pre- and post-harvest treatments to minimize ethylene effects..

Commodities : Apple, tomato, banana, peach, broccoli, carrot.

Instrumentation : Refractometer, paramagnetic O 2 analyzer, IRGA CO 2 analyzer, several GC’s for O 2/ethylene and flavor volatiles, mass spec, HPLC, Minolta chromameter, CA chambers and control system, controlled environment chambers, fluorometer, various ‘firmness’ testers for different commodities.
