Make a Gift

The UC Postharvest Technology Center is working to grow its stakeholder services and needs your help.

Housed at UC Davis, the Center has long been a resource of both academic and practical knowledge but receives limited institutional funds to maintain this role. The loss of key extension faculty positions requires us to innovate approaches that address industry priorities in applied postharvest sciences. At this critical crossroad, we are expanding out mission to build a stand-alone applied research capacity. Your monetary contributions are indispensable if we are to maintain our core services and continue to provide solutions-based research in the coming years.

In 1989, the Postharvest Program Fund was established to support student training and mentoring, extension, and outreach activities related to the postharvest biology and technology of fruit, ornamental, and vegetable crops. With rich and always evolving workshop-based trainings and website content, our mission is to be a robust and responsive resource for maintaining produce quality and safety across all scales of the produce supply-chain.

We join other research and information centers within the Department of Plant Sciences, the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and as a partner with the UC Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources in providing both education and applied research coordination. Additionally, Center affiliation extends beyond Davis to other UC campuses and state university faculty. The impact of our extension and training activities, from professionals to students from many disciplines, reaches far beyond the borders of California and the United States.

The Postharvest Technology Center is a 501(3)(c) organization under the Regents of the University of California. We would greatly appreciate your assistance in securing a sustainable future for the UC Postharvest Technology Center activities by sending your contribution or encouraging your organization to contribute.

Sincerely,
